Content & Copyright Policy
Effective date: 2026-09-04 · Last updated: 2026-09-04
This policy explains what Toast Karaoke is, what it is not, and who is responsible for the songs, recordings, lyrics, and video played through it. It forms part of the EULA and Terms of Service.
1. Toast Karaoke is a player, not a content library
Toast Karaoke is a general-purpose media tool for organising and playing files that you already have on your own computer — like VLC, Kodi, or Plex.
- It ships with no songs, recordings, karaoke tracks, lyrics, or video.
- It does not download, rip, scrape, or supply copyrighted content.
- The core app does not connect to any music or video service to obtain content.
We provide the tool. You provide the media and are responsible for it.
2. Your responsibility for your media
You are solely responsible for every file you add to Toast Karaoke and for making sure you have the right to store and play it. That means:
- You own the media, or have a licence, or it is otherwise lawful for you to use it where you are.
- You do not use Toast Karaoke to store or play content you obtained in breach of someone else's copyright or licence.
- You comply with the copyright and licensing laws that apply to you.
3. Public performance (venues especially)
Copyright in a song is separate from any licence to perform it in public. Playing music or karaoke in a bar, restaurant, shop, hotel, event, or other public place usually requires a public-performance / public-communication licence in addition to owning the file — even if you bought the track.
If you use Toast Karaoke anywhere other than a private home, it is your responsibility to obtain and keep current any public-performance licences required in your country from the relevant collecting societies in your country (in Thailand, e.g. MCT / relevant licensors). We do not provide, arrange, or cover these licences, and buying Toast Karaoke does not grant any public-performance rights.
4. No circumvention of protection measures
Do not use Toast Karaoke to store or play content whose technical protection (DRM) you have removed, or to bypass any access control on protected content. Toast Karaoke contains no tools for defeating DRM and must not be used to.
5. Optional plugins and online sources
Toast Karaoke supports optional plugins. The core app is vendor-neutral and knows nothing about any specific online service. If you choose to install a plugin that connects to a third-party service:
- your use of that service is governed by that service's own terms, not ours, and you are responsible for complying with them;
- we do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for third-party plugins or the content they reach; and
- you remain responsible for the legality of anything you access, store, or perform through such a plugin.
6. Trademarks
Song titles, artist names, brand names, and logos that may appear in metadata you import belong to their respective owners. Their appearance in Toast Karaoke is for identification only and does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or licence from those owners.
7. Reporting infringement / takedown
We take intellectual-property rights seriously. If you believe content distributed by us (for example, on our website or through an official plugin we operate) infringes your rights, contact contact@toastkaraoke.com with:
- your name and contact details;
- identification of the work you say is infringed;
- the specific material and where it is located;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; and
- a statement, under penalty of applicable law, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
We will review valid notices and act as appropriate, which may include removing material or disabling a plugin we control. Note that media on a customer's own computer is not hosted, controlled, or accessible by us and is the customer's responsibility (see sections 1–2).
8. Enforcement
Using Toast Karaoke to infringe copyright or other rights breaches the EULA and Terms. We may suspend or terminate a licence for serious or repeated violations, without refund.
